A well-known British writer from the 18 th century once wrote:
"Knowledge results from one of the following possibilities: either we learn about a subject by ourselves or we know where to find the information on it ".
This is the essence of IIS.
Designed by TAPA EMEA members, IIS was developed to enhance the availability and flow of information regarding crimes against the logistic supply chain in the industry and between the industry and legal offices / authorities. Later, its scope was expanded to include not only high-technology industry supply chain but also other high-value freights.
The objective is to make available a central source of knowledge focused on providing information about criminal activities against freights being moved in the TAPA region and to facilitate the communication of such information to companies that are TAPA members, and legal authorities.
• What are the benefits?
• i. Providing for quick information when an incident takes place and help investigate and recover stolen items.
• ii. Supplying accurate statistical analyses on problem areas to ensure corrective and preventive actions are taken.
• iii. Increasing the awareness on freight robbery problems at local, national and international levels.
• What can IIS offer?
• It offers an immediate Incident Occurrence Notification service that helps provide for quick information about new incidents as soon as they are reported.
• It provides data on incidents involving members/freight responsible persons, which may be stored in a common format, analyzed and made available to all TAPA members, legal offices and police officials.
• It provides a List of Contacts that includes legal authorities, Law representatives, manufactures, security and logistic personnel.
• It provides for a list including the origin and description of manufactured products to support investigation activities.
• It develops and makes available a Monthly Report that includes summary information on latest incidents and other relevant analyses regarding the reported information.
• It supplies a Monthly Telephone Forum where TAPA members have the opportunity to discuss topics of common interest related to the incidents against the freight.
IIS is a service provided as a part of the package supplied to TAPA EMEA members without additional costs to those who are enrolled as TAPA members and it is supplied free of charge to legal authorities and the Police in the region. For more information, please contact the IIS Manager.
